In 2009, charitable contributions dropped nationwide by 10% and food banks are feeding more and more...
A recent 2011 fundraising survey shows small signs of economic recovery within the non-profit sector, particularly for the largest organizations. More organizations reported an increase in contributions over the previous year, and fewer organizations reported a decrease in contributions.
Any recovery is modest, however. Non-profits across the country are still trying to do more with less, as the demand for their services has increased in recent years while overall contributions have decreased.
For all us who can, now is the time to stay or become involved in a cause “outside” of ourselves. We must dig deeper into our hearts and our resources so charitable and nonprofit organizations can continue their services. The need is great, our conscience demands it, and our communities depend on it.
Although we are a generous people, new creative and innovative ideas need to be designed to continue raising funds. Non-profits are busy doing the works of the heart and their talent does not always lay in fund raising.
